Product Overview

Famine or Plenty?

In 2012 the world faces its third food crisis in five years. Global grain production is likely to be below consumption, as it was in 2008 and 2011, and as a result stocks are again being drawn down to worryingly low levels. Maize and wheat prices on world markets are again at record levels.

On the supply side, productivity and food production are not increasing at the high rates achieved in the last three decades of the 20th century.

This invaluable new report seeks to analyse these issues in depth whilst also covering the following issues:

  • What’s new?
  • Defining a crisis
  • Changing food demand
  • Can production and consumption be matched?
  • Will production increase enough?
  • Supply and demand scenarios
  • Trade vital to global food security
  • Government policy conflicts
  • Neo-Malthusians likely to be proved wrong
  • Sustainability?

  • Food Supply Future will be available by 09th November 2012.
