Product Overview

2012 has been a good year for the agrochemical industry, with all of the leading companies reporting strong performances. Six companies that had issued nine-month results reported growth rates of between 5% and 21%, while four other companies with half-year results were showing gains of between 8% and 15%. Strong agricultural commodity prices and generally favourable weather certainly played a part. But there are also signs that the recovery measures forced on companies when the industry struggled three years ago are starting to deliver.

Agrow’s Top 20 report looks at the past and present performance of these companies, how they have coped with the rollercoaster market of recent years and what they are doing to stay ahead in the future. Company entries include recent acquisitions, divestments and licensing deals, and look at the products and markets that are driving growth, as well as the next generation in development. The Top 20 ranking is based on agrochemical sales, but company entries also cover their GM crop businesses.

The report also reviews the agrochemical and GM crop markets in the last two years and discusses the outlook for the future.
